WISCONSIN STORY PROJECT Sustainability Guidelines
We not only want to collect and share the stories of Wisconsin – we want to keep our state beautiful, clean, and safe for all Wisconsin communities and families. We can help do this by striving to respect the environment, conserving natural resources and reducing the use of materials and practices that have a detrimental effect on the environment and the health of our fellow Wisconsinites.
WSP aims to do its part by following these guidelines*

Transportation Considerations

Energy Efficiency

Waste Management

Water Efficiency

Toxic Exposure

Spreading awareness in Community

*Guidelines adapted, in part, from Mo’olelo Performing Arts Co.

  Reduce
  • Consult with all designers (lighting, sound, scene, costumes, etc.) in order to maintain commitment to WSP Sustainability Guidelines and reduce unnecessary energy consumption and general waste
  • Track all materials in and all materials out
  • Reduce waste generated
  • Use stock, borrow, and rent props and scenery from other theaters before creating or purchasing new props
  • Send audition materials, welcome packet materials, and other correspondence electronically to reduce paper use
  • Rent costumes from other theaters and actors, or purchase from thrift stores before purchasing or building new items
  • Encourage staff and guest artists to replace auto commute time with walking, biking, carpooling, and use of public transportation
  • Employ creative and conscious set design choices in order to reduce waste
  • Develop an "exit strategy" for all scenic materials and props – where do they go after our production is complete? Where should they go?
  •
